WEE-SAFE Women’s Caucus: Lead like Babaylans, Filipinas!

The WEE-SAFE Women’s Caucus, held on March 25, 2026, at Barcelona Hall, Marcian Garden Hotel, Zamboanga City, marked the culminating activity of the WEE-SAFE Project. It brought together ten women leaders to reflect on their experiences, share success stories, and celebrate their contributions to community development, while highlighting the project’s impact on women’s empowerment.

The activity featured a lecture on Women’s Economic Empowerment and an interactive workshop that reinforced gender equality and women’s role in leadership and decision-making. Participants expressed increased awareness of their rights, improved confidence, and strengthened participation in their respective organizations.

Key outcomes of the project included improved organizational management, expanded livelihood opportunities, enhanced agricultural and entrepreneurial skills, and greater involvement of women in community decision-making. The project also facilitated the registration and recognition of associations, enabling access to further support from government and partner agencies.

Overall, the WEE-SAFE Project successfully empowered women by strengthening their capacities and confidence, encouraging sustained partnerships, and promoting inclusive and sustainable local economic development.
