WEE-SAFE Project Exit and Sustainability Conference

The WEE-SAFE Project Exit and Sustainability Conference, held on February 5, 2026, at Marcian Convention Hall, Marcian Garden Hotel, Zamboanga City, marked the culmination of the 30-month EU-BAEP WEE-SAFE Project implemented from July 2023 to December 2025. The project focused on advancing women’s economic empowerment, strengthening livelihood opportunities, and building institutional partnerships among farmers, fisherfolk, youth, Indigenous Peoples, women’s organizations, local government units, BARMM ministries, national agencies, financial institutions, and private sector partners. Over its implementation, it successfully organized and strengthened 27 farmers’ and fisherfolk organizations, engaged 1,181 members, conducted 37 capacity-building activities, mobilized over Php 2.3 million in support, facilitated market and financing linkages, and promoted gender and youth inclusion in agri-fishery development.

The conference presented the Sustainability and Exit Plan, anchored in organizational strengthening, production efficiency, value chain development, marketing systems, policy support, and financial access, with partner agencies reaffirming their commitments to sustain project gains. The event concluded with recognition of partners and shared reflections, emphasizing that although the project formally ends, the empowered organizations and institutional linkages established will continue advancing inclusive agri-fishery development in Basilan.
