On December 11–12, 2025, the WEE-SAFE Project facilitated the turnover of motorized boats to four fisherfolk associations in Lamitan City: Ulame, Tumakid Agri-Fishery, Malo-ong Canal, and Luksumbang. The ceremonies began with prayers and emphasized the official transfer of ownership of the boats, marking a significant milestone in the associations’ livelihood development.

Opening messages highlighted the importance of collective responsibility, adherence to the approved Policies, Systems, and Procedures (PSPs), and proper maintenance to ensure the sustainability of the assets. Support from the City Agriculture Office and local government was recognized, including commitments to provide additional resources and continued assistance beyond the project’s conclusion.

Association representatives expressed deep gratitude for the tangible support, noting that the provision of boats and safety equipment strengthened trust in capacity-building initiatives and enhanced their daily livelihood operations. Closing remarks reinforced the need to monitor contributions, maintain the PSPs, and safeguard the assets for long-term use.

As a way forward, associations will continue reporting contributions for maintenance, repairs, and savings, while sustaining their collective management of the boats to ensure equitable access, operational efficiency, and strengthened livelihood opportunities.
