MOA Signing and Turn-over of Working Capital Fund for the LARBECO Buko Juice Project

LARBECO, an active participant in the WEE-SAFE Project, is a multi-purpose cooperative engaged in rubber and coconut plantation operations. In recent developments, the cooperative has subdivided its farmlands, enabling individual agrarian reform beneficiaries to independently manage their assigned farm lots. Despite this transition, LARBECO continues to play a vital role in consolidating produce and facilitating market access for its members. The cooperative currently has a total of 365 active members.

LARBECO, due to its good production and supply base of a coconut variety suitable for consumer drinks, has ventured into a new business enterprise of producing, packaging, and marketing of “Buko Juice Drink” to add value to the produce and generate additional revenues to the cooperative. This initiative aims to add value to their agricultural produce while generating additional income streams for the cooperative.

On July 10, 2024, a Memorandum of Agreement was formally signed with LARBECO, marking the provision of working capital amounting to one hundred thousand pesos (PHP 100,000.00) to support the establishment and initial operations of the Buko Juice Enterprise. The turnover ceremony was attended by the cooperative’s members and officers, representatives from KMFI, and Mr. Roderick Espinosa, Officer-in-Charge of the Philippine Coconut Authority.

In addition, LARBECO committed a counterpart fund of twenty thousand pesos (PHP 20,000.00), which will be utilized to further strengthen and sustain the operations of the Buko Juice enterprise.
