Gender Sensitivity Training cum Orientation on The Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710) and the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (RA 9262)

The Gender Sensitivity cum Orientation on The Magna Carta of Women (RA 9710) and the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act (RA 9262) was conducted on June 18-19, 2024, at Nalamar Restaurant, Lamitan City, Basilan, with participants from various farmers’ and fisherfolk associations and cooperatives. The training aimed to enhance understanding of gender sensitivity, legal protections for women, and promote gender-responsive practices within organizations. Through interactive workshops, discussions, and exercises such as the “Gender Roles” activity and “Power Walk,” participants explored concepts on gender roles, equality, and power relations, and learned about the salient features of RA 9710 and RA 9262. The activity concluded with reflections, certificate awarding, and commitments to apply gender-sensitive approaches in personal, organizational, and community settings. Participants actively engaged in all sessions and expressed appreciation for the knowledge gained, highlighting the importance of gender awareness and legal protection in strengthening inclusive and accountable community practices.
