Training on Training on Business Improvement Planning for Farmers and Fisherfolks Organizations
The Training on Business Improvement Planning for Farmers and Fisherfolks Organizations was conducted on March 5–7, 2024, at Nalamar Restaurant and Services in Lamitan City, bringing together 37 participants from cooperatives, associations, barangays, the WEE-SAFE Project team, and partner stakeholders, including the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism and the Office of the City Agriculturist of Lamitan City. The training aimed to strengthen participants’ competencies in business management by equipping them with knowledge and skills in developing Business Model Canvases, business improvement plans, and financial and marketing strategies tailored to their organizations. Led by Mr. Asriff Tindick, the Senior Trade and Industry Development Specialist of the Ministry of Trade, Investments, and Tourism in Basilan, discussions covered entrepreneurial and marketing mindsets, niche marketing, costing and pricing, and the nine building blocks of the Business Model Canvas, followed by hands-on workshops where participants developed their own business models and improvement plans with guidance from facilitators. Over the three days, participants gained practical skills in strategic planning, financial preparation, and collaborative learning, resulting in concrete outputs such as draft Business Model Canvases, Business Improvement Plans, and financial plans aligned with their organizational goals. The activity successfully enhanced participants’ capacity to manage and grow their enterprises, empowering them with essential tools to strengthen the sustainability and effectiveness of their farmers’ and fisherfolk’s organizations.
